I Really Don't Like This

I do love what Rodarte churns out most of the time, but then while perusing Opening Ceremony I saw this ensemble, and thought "this is total dreck, yuck." I feel like a trend has been taking the fashion world by storm for a while now. That trend is the "it's so unhip, it's actually hip trend" and I think we can thank American Apparel and art student hipsters everywhere for starting this trend. It's become popular to wear t-shirts with cosmic backgrounds that feature dolphins or Husky dogs in the center. This reminds me of Lisa Frank school supplies and some hideous marine life laced folders I used to buy in second grade that also had a hint of Thomas Kinkade. I'm all for geeks, I'm all for unfashionable, but what I'm not for is people pretending to be that way, just so they can consider themselves cool and hip. You don't see me wearing Otomix bodybuilding pants to the gym with a Gold's Gym tank (showing off my boobies) so I can bring back a has been trend. Although maybe now I will buy a pair of Otomix bodybuilding pants. Now I do like the way a lot of hipsters dress, but I don't like the ones that try to hard to be different, because there is nothing different about trying too hard.

I think the only time that I feel cosmic pattern are acceptable is if they are coming from Peter Pilotto, then  I find them appealing.

Here are some things that have made a comeback or that are considered popular when they really shouldn't be. Just so we are clear here there is nothing cool about going to a store (such as American Apparel) and dropping $500 for a couple of outfits just to look like you walked out of a thrift store. Just as I would never pay a whopping $3,000 for a dress that looks like my grandma made it for me and then somehow got regurgitated her pussy (cat). Meow.

Re-Invent Workout Wear, Please

My hat goes of to Lululemon for changing my viewpoint of work out clothes. Their clothing is very cute and stylish. I constantly see women in my gym donning the latest gear form the hip store, but their gear is too pricey for me to purchase. I can't justify spending that much money on gear that I will stink up with my sweat, but if it were workout clothes designed by Rick Owens, I would be willing to spend that much money. Other than thinking about fashion, writing, making art, and eating, my favorite active is working up a sweat.
Mondays are my favorite workout days. I feel like a total badass after my HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) and leg workout. I love working out and I feel blessed that I have the ability to do so. I feel that the mental challenge is often harder to handle than the physical one. To match the empowerment, it would be great to have a workout outfit designed by a cutting edge designer such as Rei Kawakubo or Junya Watanabe
I could see them taking old Gold's Gym and Everlast tank tops and cutting them up into new-fangled tops and clothes. Spandex would be reinvented into a way better creation than what is found in anAmerican Apparel store. Even Pendleton could get in on the action, after all it seems that they have collaborated with everyone lately, why not design some workout gear. I would go to the gym on leg day and feel like an awesome badass in my Junya Watanabe workout top paired with Comme des Garcons Pendleton shorts and Rick Owens sneakers. It would definitely make me forget about how much my quads hurt and I may just do some pullups because I am so happy with what I'm wearing. If any one of these designers decides to do this, please at least give me some of the workout clothes, since I came up with the idea. I do realize that Stella McCartney and Yojhi Yamamoto have done great things for Adidas, but I want more designers to embark on this.

The only cool thing I wear for workouts are my sneakers. I have gotten more compliments on my White Label Fila sneakers than I ever could have imagined.
