Christopher Raeburn, You Are My Idol

Dear Christopher Raeburn,

You have blown my mind and I am truly, madly, deeply in love...with your jackets. As a conceptual thinker I feel that your creations blow everything else, army oriented and not, out of the water. I have never been as inspired by a piece of clothing, as I have been when I see your work. I am thankful that the Barney's New York in my city carries your jackets, even though I can't buy one due to the fact I don't have the money. I want the Battledress Bomber, or the Inuit Battledress Parka, I'm kvelling.

When I share my interest with friends, they tell me I am crazy for wanting something so expensive and I tell them, "No I am not crazy, this is art and you don't just pay $30 for art." I would eat ramen every day of the year and save my money just to buy one of your jackets. I would go to a Corner Bakery and live off of Saltine crackers and mustard packets. Alas I will just lust from afar. Brilliance at its' best.

Your Fashion Fan,

Jacket Obsession

If someone asked me what I purchasing or thinking about purchasing best, I honestly could not choose. I am in love with handbags ( so much so that I purchased some things I really shouldn't have), I adore shoes (again spent a lot of money on sneakers that I probably shouldn't have), but one thing I love as much are jackets. I have spent a lot of money on a jacket before and not had any regrets at all. If I was given $2000 to spend in a store I would blow all of the money on a great jacket. I own a lot of great ones, but there are still some that I will continue to lust for. The jackets I lust after I try on in dressing rooms and take photos of myself, so even if I never own it, I will at least "have worn the jacket" in a picture and in some respect that makes me feel like I have ownership. Here some of my favorites.

A Jacket I own:

(All of my own clothes, Rick Owens leather jacket,

(Opening Ceremony Meets Pendleton Men's Jacket, Lykke Li concert t-shirt,

Jackets I wish I owned, but at least I do for five minutes in a Barney's New York dressing room:

Some more jackets I would like to buy:

And then a jacket I regret not buying:

(awesome Marc Jacobs leather jacket, I didn't buy :-(
Perfect and made me feel hot as hell in the Nordstrom dressing room)

The only saving grace for me to be living in a horrible climate where winter sucks ass, is knowing that I will get to wear all of my amazing jackets. After all if I lived in Hawaii, I might be way happier, but when I get SAD (Seasonal Affected Disorder) I comfort myself in a supple Italian leather designer jacket.
